M.K. Brown's cartoons have appeared in many publications, including National Lampoon (1972-1981), Mother Jones, Wimmen's Comix, The New Yorker, Playboy and more. She has written several books, created animations for The Tracey Ullman Show, and was a contributing artist in Voyager's Graphic Novel The Narrative Corpse (Gates of Heck April 1998), working with many of the great cartoonists of the day. She is also an accomplished painter with work in galleries and many private collections worldwide.

A popular comic by M.K. Brown is "Aunt Mary's Kitchen" which is the name of a comic strip published in National Lampoon. M.K. Brown also published a Cook Book of 140 recipes by the same name in 1983 by Collier Books.

Her animated series Dr. N!Godatu (with Julie Payne as Dr. Janice N!Godatu) debuted in 1987 on The Tracey Ullman Show trading spots with the then unknown Simpsons shorts. Nancy Cartwright and Dan Castellaneta from The Simpsons lent their voices to episodes "Freeway", "Blind Date" and "Fishtank".
