M. S. Viswanathan often referred to just as M.S.V., is a prolific film music composer in the Tamil film industry who dominated during the 1960s and 1970s and composed scores for over 1000 films. He often worked with Kavingar Kannadasan, a well-known lyricist. He is popularly known as "Mellisai Mannar" meaning "King of Light Music".His achievements range from bringing out new trends in melodies, tunes and orchestration to introducing various genres of World Music to Indian Cinema. He is rightly called by the people as the "University of Music". He does a lot of Devotional music nowadays and is currently working on a movie for which he does LIVE recording with all the instruments together.
