MacAdministrator is a network administration product developed, supported and distributed by Hi Resolution. It is used on Macintosh computers and computer networks running Mac OS - from Mac OS 7.5.3 to 9.2.2 and Mac OS X – to enable the management and monitoring of Users, UserGroups, Machines and MachineGroups across a network using a Configuration Manager, which may be run from anywhere on the network.

The product was first released in 1995 and the latest major version, MacAdministrator 3.4, was released in June 2005. MacAdministrator’s features cover eight main areas of administrative control for the Macintosh network. These are:

User Account Profiles; Machine Group Profiles; Login & Authentication; Desktop Protection & Control; Software Distribution; Software & Hardware Audit; Print Audit & Control; Agent Control & Remote Administration.

MacAdministrator was the first and is currently the only network management suite able to fully integrate and control Macintosh clients using any server platform providing the network protocol AFP or AFP/IP. MacAdministrator authenticates against Windows NT 4; Windows 2000/2003 Server; Unix; Linux; Novell NetWare; Mac OS/AppleShare IP; Mac OS X, and supports POP, LDAP, AFP, SMB and FTP protocols.
