Magma Design Automation (NASDAQ: LAVA) is an electronic design automation (EDA) software company, founded in 1997, located in San Jose, California. It is the fourth-largest company in the EDA industry.

Magma software enables chip designers to reduce the time it takes to design and produce complex integrated circuits, or ICs. Magma products are used in all major phases of the IC development cycle.

Magma products comprise an integrated design system for synthesis of the physical layout of ICs from their register transfer level (RTL) descriptions. Magma has also developed software for managing the power consumed by ICs and for verification of chip designs.

As of 2006, Magma's major competitors are Cadence Design Systems, Synopsys and Mentor Graphics.
