On December 27, 1950, the predecessor of MBS, New Japan Broadcasting Company (新日本放送株式会社 Shin-Nippon Hōsō Kabushiki-gaisha?, NJB) was founded. On September 1, 1951, NJB started the second commercial radio broadcasting in Japan. On December 1, 1956, NJB founded Osaka Television Co., Ltd. In 1970, MBS joined a television news network called All-Nippon News Network (ANN). The president of the Asahi Shimbun in those days ordered ABC to change the key station to NET, so MBS changed to a news network called Japan News Network (JNN) on March 31, 1975. In 1990, the new headquarters and new broadcasting studio completed in Chayamachi, Kita-ku, Osaka, the registed headquarters moved from former Osaka Head Office of the Mainichi Shimbun, and the broadcasting studio moved from Senri. On March 31, 2001, the studio completed called "MBS Studio in USJ" at Universal Studios Japan. On September 1, 2006, MBS celebrated the 55th anniversary of starting broadcasting.
