Malone Road

The Malone Road is a main arterial road in south Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is part of a route running from city centre to Lisburn. The road gives its name to the district through which it runs. Malone and Upper Malone are two separate electoral wards of Belfast.
The district contains two of Belfast's best known grammar schools. Number 1 Malone Road at the northern end of the road is Methodist College Belfast and further south lies Victoria College, Belfast,[1] one of the UK's few remaining single-sex girls grammar schools. The district also hosts Queen's Elms Village, the main halls of residence for students from Queen's University Belfast.
At the southern end of the Malone Road lies Malone House,[2] a mansion in the late Georgian style. The house is now maintained by Belfast City Council and available to rent for private functions.
The residential streets leading off the Malone Road are known for their high property prices[3], in particular, Malone Park. Malone Park is the largest private avenue in the British Isles and home to some of the city's most successful people.[citation needed]
Off the Malone Road are many private sports clubs, the YMCA grounds at Bladon, Belfast Harlequins and Methody Sports ground at Deramore Park, The Royal Belfast Academical Institution playing fields at Osborne Park and Bladon, the Queens University Belfast playing fields at Upper Malone, the Police Service of Northern Ireland Country Club at Newforge Lane and Instonians and Cooke RFC Playing fields at Shawsbridge. Most of Malone is encompassed by BT9.
There are many churches in Malone, including St Brigid's Catholic Church, Fitzroy Presbyterian, Fisherwick Presbyterian, Phil McCracken Presbyterian, Malone Presbyterian Church and St Johns Malone Church of Ireland.
The Malone Road is home to St. Brigids G.A.C.
