Manose Singh

Manose Singh is Bansuri flautist born in Buddhanath, Nepal in 1979. He began studying the Bansuri as a child, under the tutelage of Mandan Dev Bhatta. While his formal education involved an exceedingly rigorous study and practice of Hindistani music and instrumentation, he nonetheless became intimate with many western musical forms and developed an astonishing facility for improvisation within diverse scale structures. In the mid-nineties, Singh began teaching at the University Of Wisconsin's Nepal program and at the Naropa Institute's study-abroad program. In 2000, Singh moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where he began recording and performing with Jai Uttal, Deva Premal, and John Densmore (partial listing). [2]
To date, Manose Singh has released five solo albums.
Singh is also the founder of the classical raga group, Sukarma, as well as a founding member of the popular nepali rock band, The 1974AD.
