Marcelo Tulbovitz

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marcelo Tulbovitz Dembovich is an Uruguayan soccer head athletic trainer. Renowned in his home country, as well as in the rest of CONMEBOL and CONCACAF, his career goes back to the year 1986, when he started working in football and got his university degree.

In Uruguay, he has been part of coaching staffs of teams such as CA Progreso, Defensor Sporting Club, Club Nacional de Football, Club Atlético River Plate (Montevideo) and Racing Club de Montevideo of the Primera División Uruguaya. He won several national titles with CA Progreso, Defensor Sporting Club and Club Nacional de Football, before turning to an international venture in which he has being part of teams such as CD Cobresal of the Liga Chilena de Fútbol: Primera División, and the El Salvador national football team.

In 2003, he arrived to Costa Rica, to integrate Hernan Medford's coaching staff in Deportivo Saprissa, and since then, have pretty much won everything they could win, including 2 national tournaments, an Uncaf Cup and the CONCACAF Champions Cup, which gave them the right to compete in the second FIFA Club World Championship Toyota Cup in Japan, in December of 2005, in which Saprissa ended up finishing 3rd. Most experts consider that much of the achievements accomplished by Saprissa during this period is in fact because of Tulbovitz great professional skills.

As of October 28, 2006, the Costa Rican Football Federation, or Federación Costarricense de Fútbol, announced that Hernan Medford and his coaching staff will take charge of the Costa Rica national football team. Thus making him the new head athletic trainer for the Costa Rica national football team.
