Mark L. Lester

Mark L. Lester (b. November 26, 1946) has worked as a writer, producer, and director on many high-profile, action films over his long career. His first film was Twilight of the Mayas. Lester then worked on many films, such as Stunts, Steel Arena, and Bobby Jo and the Outlaw. His next film Roller Boogie with Linda Blair was his first popular film. Lester then made the thriller Class of 1984. He also made Commando, an Arnold Schwarznegger action film that became a huge hit, grossing over $120 million worldwide. In this time period he also produced Armed & Dangerous starring Meg Ryan and John Candy. He directed the sci-fic/action movie Class of 1999 in 1989.

Mark Lester married Dana Dubovsky, who he now works with and had two children, Jason and Justin. He also founded American World Pictures, and independent production and distribution company. In recent years he has made many films, ranging from action films like The Base to thrillers like Blowback and Hitman's Run. He continues to direct and distribute numerous films and remains dedicated to his craft. Most recently he directed Pterodactyl for the Sci Fi Channel.

Other credits include Stephen King's Firestarter, Showdown in Little Tokyo, Night of the Running Man, Extreme Justice, Misbegotten, The Ex, Double Take, and Truck Stop Women.
