Mark McCabe

Mark McCabe is an Irish performance DJ and radio presenter. He is best known for his 2000 chart-topper, Maniac 2000, a recording of a live remix of 4 Rhythm's version of Michael Sembello's Maniac, one of the tracks from the theme of Flashdance. This dance track became the biggest seller of the year 2000 in the Republic of Ireland, spent ten weeks at #1 and 11 weeks further down the charts; but licensing and other limitations prevented its sale elsewhere, although DJs on the Balieric and Canary Islands obtained copies due to the large numbers of Irish tourists visiting these areas. Total sales in Ireland are unknown, but IRMA rate it as the fourth highest selling song since data began in 1962. The song also achieved some level of success in The Netherlands, with TMF9 recording it being played in a nightclub for use on their chart shows .
He worked as a Radio DJ, performing the drivetime slot on a pirate radio station in Dublin for a number of years before producing Maniac. Due to Ireland's rather liberal treatment of pirate stations, he came third in the Most Influential Radio DJ awards in 1998.
He has recently publicly admitted his regret over Maniac 2000, and has since released another album, Music From The Fourth Place, which he himself describes as being as far from Maniac as possible.
He now presents early morning weekend content on RTÉ 2fm, from 7 AM to 9 or 10AM depending on the day.
