Mark Municipality is located in Västra Götaland County, in western Sweden. Its seat is located in the largest town Kinna (pop. 14,000).

The municipality was created with the municipal reform (see: Municipalities of Sweden) in the early 1970s and took its name from an old name of the hundred.

The coat of arms was created and granted with the municipality in the 1970s. The circles in coat of arms come the 16th century insignia of the Mark hundred. The grain signifies the farming industry; and the thing at the right is a weaving tool; because the municipality had, and still has, a strong textile industry.

Mark has three sister cities. They have been focusing on towns or municipalities that also had a significant textile industry.
