Mark Saggers

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mark Saggers (May 28, 1959–) is a journalist and presenter, currently working on BBC Radio Five Live. Saggers began his broadcasting career at BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, where his love of sport grew.

A wicketkeeper, Saggers also played two list A matches for Cambridgeshire, though he averaged only 3.50 with the bat [1].

His love of sport soon took him to the BBC, joining Radio Sport in 1989 [2].

During his first stint with the BBC, Saggers won a Sony Award for his reporting of the Grand National, while he was also a part of Radio 4's Today programme.

In 1992 Saggers left the BBC to join Sky News as senior sports correspondent. It is perhaps here he assumed his best known role for international audiences as voice of the EPL highlights show.

In 2001 Saggers returned to the BBC, presenting Sport on Five on Sunday, and then from 2005 from Monday to Thursday.
