Matt Elliott is a musician from Bristol, who initially recorded as The Third Eye Foundation, and since 2001 has used his own name. He has also been a member of Movietone and Amp, and was involved in some early recordings by Flying Saucer Attack, playing bongos and clarinet on their debut album.

The first album Semtex was a mixture of drum and bass programmed rhythms, and heavily processed guitars in the style of My Bloody Valentine. Released on Elliott's own label, it caused him to be considered part of the contemporary Bristol "trip hop" scene alongside Portishead and Massive Attack, despite his closer affinities with, and occasional membership of, the city's experimental "post-rock" groups. Second album Ghost made heavy use of the sampler, including one track based on a sample from Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music. Subsequent releases moved away from the harsh style of Ghost, while retaining the use of samples and an eerie and sombre ambience.

Elliott also produced two albums for Hood and toured with the band, and has produced singles for Hood and other groups.
