Matt Geyer

Matt Geyer (born September 5, 1975) is an Australian rugby league player for the Melbourne Storm in the National Rugby League competition and fromerly for New South Wales. His position of choice is at wing; though he has numerously played Five Eight, Fullback or centre. Matt is the younger brother of League legend Mark Geyer.
Matt started his career in 1997 for the Western Reds in the Super League competition, but then became one of the foundation members of the Melbourne Storm when he signed for the inaugural season of the club in 1998. Since then Matt has become the most capped Melbourne Storm player and also holds the record for most tries for the club. Often renowned as a crowd favourite like Marcus Bai, the man nicknamed 'Boofa' is among the club's most popular players for his commitment, positive attitude and genuine leadership. Geyer also kicked the winning conversion in the 1999 Grand Final to send the Storm home winners in only their 2nd year of competition. Craig Smith gave up the kicking duties to Geyer, due to being knocked out after being awarded a penalty try. He is the only current player remaining from the 1999 grand final squad. Since then Matt Geyer has also made the 2006 Grand Final for the Melbourne Storm. Matt Geyer also became the Storm's first player to make 200 appearance's in the NRL as he ran out against the Cronulla Sharks at Olympic Park in 2006. He has also re-signed for another 2 years until 2008 where he will retire becoming the Storm's longest serving player.
