Matt Wagner (born 1961) is an American comic book writer and artist best known as the creator of two irregular series, Mage and Grendel.

He has also worked on comics featuring the Demon and Batman as well as titles including Sandman Mystery Theatre and most recently Trinity, a DC Comics limited series featuring Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, as well as painting covers for Green Arrow.

Wagner was born in Pennsylvania. He resides in Portland, Oregon with his wife Barbara Schutz, their two children, Brennan and Amanda, and three cats.
