Matthew Gilks (born June 4, 1982 in Rochdale, Greater Manchester) is an English footballer playing for Football League Two side Rochdale. He joined Rochdale from the youth team in March 2000. He is a goalkeeper. Known as 'England's Number one' by Rochdale fans. Matthew has shown that he is an excellent goalkeeper and hasn't looked back since forcing Taff (Neil Edwards) out of the first team picture. Matthew had reportedly been attracting attention from Norwich and Bolton. However nothing materialised and he is currently enjoying another terrific season so far.
