Matthew Jarvis (born May 22, 1986, Middlesbrough) is a professional footballer. He currently plays for Gillingham as a left winger who can also play on the right wing (he is right footed) and up front. He started his career as a youth team player at Millwall, before being released. He is noted for his pace and creation of goal-scoring opportunities. His debut for Gillingham in 2002-2003 came in November 2003, with his first professional contract signed during the 2004-2005 season.

His goal against Huddersfield Town won the club's goal of the season award for the 2005/06 season. For these reasons as well as his friendly personality he has become a crowd favourite.

He has been playing regularly since returning from a hernia injury which he obtained on the 31 December 2005 during the Gills' 3-0 win over the MK Dons in the 2005-06 season, and was the club's second highest scorer in the 2005/2006 season with 7 goals.

Jarvis' contract with Gillingham ends after the 2006/07 season and speculation has linked him with a move to a number of other clubs, including some in the Premiership. Talking to BBC Radio Kent Gillingham manager Ronnie Jepson talked of his hopes that Jarvis would sign a new contract at Priestfield saying "As far as I'm concerned I'd like to see Matt here for a long long time. He's a credit to himself and his family in the way he conducts himself on and around the ground. He's the type of lad I want to keep, not to sell".[1]

His father Nick Jarvis was a former England international at table tennis.
