Contents

Maxim and his skating partner Tatiana Totmianina are one of the best figure skating teams in the world today. They began skating together in 1996.

They won the pairs' World Figure Skating Championship title two times (2004, 2005) and they are five-time European champions (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006). They are coached by Oleg Vasiliev.

2006 Totmianina/Marinin won the gold medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, continuing the Russian domination of the sport in the Olympics, with either a Russian or Soviet pair winning gold every year since 1960. Totmianina and Marinin announced that the 2006 games will be their last competition.

Marinin was born in Volgograd, Russia, and began skating at age four.
