McHale's Navy is a 1997 military comedy film starring Tom Arnold as the son of Lt. Commander Quinten McHale, known by the same name (retired). The movie is based on the television series.
In the film, Lt. Commander McHale, codenamed Cobra, has retired to work in the Pentagon as an Admiral. His son, also retired from the navy is called back to duty after the fictional island, San Marino, becomes used by the international terrorist, Major Vladikov. It is not until the end of the movie that Cobra is revealed to be the original McHale from the Television Show.
Major Vladikov wants to build and launch a gigantic missile to supposedly destroy The Pentagon, where the President of the United States and 27 other heads of state will be meeting. He is also obsessed with becoming the most renowned terrorist in the world. Lt. McHale is brought out of retirement, to the displeasure of Binghampton, to lead an operation against Major Vladikov. He and his crew sneak onto the terrorist's base, and Ensign Parker accidentally breaks (and steals) the detonator for the missile. After Binghamptoon accidentally blows up the base (with a flare gun) McHale and his crew board his PT boat to find and kill Vladikov, which they eventually do.
