Arkansas Metropolitan Areas

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Arkansas has seven metropolitan areas (MSAs) defined by the United States Census Bureau, some shared with a neighboring state. Among these seven, Arkansas has one of the fastest growing United States MSAs — the region centered on the northwestern cities of Fayetteville, Springdale and Rogers.

There are two combined areas in the state. The Little Rock-North Little Rock-Pine Bluff Combined Statistical Area includes the Little Rock and Pine Bluff metropolitan area and the Searcy micropolitan area. The Jonesboro-Paragould Combined Statistical Area was created by the Census Bureau in 2005 and includes the Jonesboro metropolitan area and Paragould micropolitan area.

Additionally, Crittenden County is a constituent county of the Memphis, Tennessee MSA.

The following table lists population figures for these metropolitan areas, in rank of population. Population figures are as of the 2006 U.S. Census estimates.
