Michael Chan is a Canadian politician. He is the Liberal Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for the Ontario provincial riding of Markham-Unionville and Minister of Citizenship and Immigration in the provincial Liberal government headed by Dalton McGuinty. Previously, Chan was Minister of Revenue where he sat on the Management Board of Cabinet/Treasury Board.

Chan was president of the federal Liberal Party of Canada riding association in Markham held by MP John McCallum. Chan was elected in a February 8, 2007 by-election, necessitated by the resignation of former Liberal MPP Tony Wong, who left his seat in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to successfully run for York Regional Council in 2006. He was appointed to provincial cabinet as Minister of Revenue by Premier Dalton McGuinty on February 21st, 2007,[1] a portfolio that has not been used since the NDP government of Bob Rae since 1993.
