Michael Weikath

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael Ingo Joachim Weikath is the guitarist of the Power metal band called Helloween. He was born on August 7, 1962 in Hamburg, Germany. His name is a reference for the term melodic metal or power metal, since he contributed much to the innovations that occurred in the heavy metal sound in the beginning of the 1980s.

"Weiki" is one of the Helloween founding members, and along with the musicians Kai Hansen (vocals/guitars), Markus Grosskopf (bass) and Ingo Schwichtenberg (drums), Weikath integrated the first Helloween line up in 1982. In 1984 the band had signed a deal with Noise Records and recorded two songs for a Noise compilation record called Death Metal. In this album, he was responsible for the track "Oernst Of Life".

Some other songs he has composed are "Dr. Stein", "Keeper of the Seven Keys", "A Tale That Wasn't Right", "How Many Tears", "Eagle Fly Free", "Windmill", "Heavy Metal Hamsters", "Secret Alibi", "Power", "Kings Will be Kings", "I can", "Salvation", "Do You Feel Good", "Get it up", and "Born on Judgment Day".

Helloween released a new album called "Keeper of the Seven Keys - The Legacy" on October 31st, 2005. The current line-up includes Sascha Gerstner (guitars), Andi Deris (vocals), Markus Grosskopf (bass) as well as newcomer Dani Loeble (drums).

Michael Weikath is also known for his assertiveness in interviews, his logical thinking, and his passion for Macintosh computers. Nowadays he lives in Tenerife, Spain.
