Mick Goodrick is a jazz guitarist and instructor. Over the course of his career Goodrick has had many notable students including: Mike Stern, John Scofield and Bill Frisell. He has performed alongside Pat Metheny and Wolfgang Muthspiel who both cite Goodrick as an influence. His first book, The Advancing Guitarist, is an instruction manual for guitarists of all styles. Goodrick has also written a series of books addressing the intricacies of harmonic voice-leading.

He began studying guitar when he was 11 and was inspired to play jazz while attending Stan Kenton's summer camps. In 1967, he graduated from Berklee College of Music. After working with vibraphonist Gary Burton, he began teaching at New England Conservatory and at Berklee College of Music where he still works today. His most recent recordings have been for Greg Hopkins, Gary Chaffee and Steve Swallow.
