Microsoft European Science Award

The Microsoft European Science Award (or Microsoft Award) is an annual award given by the Royal Society and the Académie des Sciences to scientists working in Europe who have made a major contribution to the advancement of science through the use of computational methods. It is sponsored by Microsoft Research. The first award was given in 2006. The criteria for the award alternates each year between those who have made a significant contribution at the intersection of computing and the biological sciences or the intersection of computing and the physical sciences. In 2007 the award will focus on computing and the physical sciences, including mathematics and engineering. In 2008, the award will focus on computing and the biological sciences.
