Miss France

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Miss France pageant is a long-standing competition which awards prizes to young women contestants from France. Since the 1950s, Miss France winners competed in the Miss Universe pageant. The organization lost the right to send a delegate in the 2003 edition of the international competition after a dispute with a rival pageant organization. In 2004, Endemol, the new co-owner and broadcaster of the Miss France and Miss Europe pageants regained the right to send its titleholders to Miss Universe.

Although Christiane Martel won the Miss Universe title for France in 1953, she was not a titleholder from this pageant.
