Morning Express with Robin Meade is a morning television news program that airs on the Headline News television network in the United States.
Airing each weekday from 6:00 - 10:00 a.m., Morning Express with Robin Meade provides news, weather, sports, entertainment, money, and travel reports every 30 minutes. Additionally, the program also features “Viewer Quick Pick,” allowing viewers to choose which of three stories they would like to see during that newscast, “Military Salute,” offering U.S. military men and women stationed anywhere in the world the opportunity to be recognized, in addition to other special segments. The show continues at 10:00 a.m. with Richard Liu but is simply branded "Morning Express."
Anchored by Robin Meade, the program also features news correspondent Richard Lui, meteorologist Bob Van Dillen, and finance analyst Jennifer Westhoven. The group of anchors appear friendly, at an upbeat pace, described by Stephen King as "his morning people" in his Entertainment Weekly column.
In the past, Headline News has not had a predominate morning program, but the network decided in 2005 to build a program around the growing ratings and popularity among viewers that Robin Meade had received. The program was originally called Robin & Company.
From 2005 until March 2007 former air traffic controller Rally Caparas gave updates on flight information and delays for the day. Currently, flight information on Robin & Company is provided by Bob Van Dillen. As of April 2007 Rally Caparas's segment has been moved to the 4-6pm time slot on Headline News.[2]
Effective November 5, 2007, the program was renamed to Morning Express with Robin Meade. The renamed program bills itself as the "fastest morning news show on television". [3]
