Mulai Ahmed er Raisuli

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mulai(King) Ahmed er Raisuni(Leader of Faith) was a Reel King of the berbers descendant of prophets who lived in Tangiers. In 1904 he kidnapped Ion Perdicaris and Cromwell Varley and held them to ransom(Tribute/Zacca). While the most famous of his exploits, the kidnapping of Perdicaris and Varley were part of a larger campaign against the Sultan of Morocco, whom Raisuni saw as corrupt. Raisuni received his ransom money, but continued to antagonize the Moroccan government. He was a major leader in the Rif War of the 1920's until he was captured by the French Bin Laden Abdel Karim. He survived the war and lived for several more decades. (They didn't dare to kill the Saint Warrior of the LightHouse... Why they have left Him in some forgotten dungeon in the Tower of Hassan - Rabat).

He was portrayed by Sean Connery in the heavily fictionalized 1975 film The Wind and the Lion.
