Muzhappilangad is a small coastal village in Kannur district in the Indian state of Kerala. This village is renowned for its 5 km long pristine beach. A long clean beach, its enchanting ambience invites you to swim, sunbathe or just lounge around. Black rocks protect Muzhappilangad from the currents of the deep, making its shallow water a swimmer's paradise. Muzhappilangad is Kerala's only drive-in beach which is about 5 km long. From Muzhappilangad you can see the Dharmadam island (Pacha Thuruth) just across the Arayakkandy river, a remarkable conjunction of beach and island.
The nearest town to Muzhappilangad is the town of Thalassery which is 7 km away.
The District Headquarters Kannur is about 13 km from Muzhappilangadu. Muzhappilangadu is famous for "Thalappoli" A local festival celebrated in the month of March in "Sree Koormba Temple" which is a three day festival. In this festival devotees take "Kalasham" and walk kilometers to the Temple to show their respect to the Goddess.
