NFL Central Division

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The NFL Central refers to one of the four divisions of the National Football League that was created prior to the 1967 season when the league realigned the original two divisions the East and West. The division would last until the 1970 when the National Football League and American Football League merged.

The NFL Coastal consisted of four members: Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and Minnesota Vikings. After the AFL-NFL Merger in 1970, all four teams would join the NFC Central. It would be the only division the NFL would keep intact after the merger. The other three had teams leaving and new teams entering. For the three years the division existed it was dominated early by Green Bay and by Minnesota late.
