Nancy Mace
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nancy Mace was the first female cadet to graduate from The Citadel; she graduated on May 8, 1999. She was a member of the class of 2000.
Her father was the Commandant of Cadets during her enrollment at The Citadel, which has been a bone of contention with some of her peers who still to this day make accusations of her success being a result of "favoritism."
She should have graduated with the class of 2000 but was allowed to accelerate her studies by transferring in credits from another college, allowing her to finish a year early. This fact is stated by Nancy Mace in her book, "In the Company of Men: A Woman at the Citadel.”
Nancy Mace is not to be confused with Shannon Faulkner, the first woman to enter The Citadel.
