Narsingdi is a district in central Bangladesh. It is a part of the Dhaka Division.

Named from the ancient king , people used to compared him as a lion like human in Bangla Nor means Man and Singho means Lion , people named the king Nor-Shingho After that the region was named Nor-Shingho-Dip it worth mentioning that Dip means island and in that ancient time it was like an island, after a time being the name changed and people called it Narsingdi shortly Mehedi,Dhaka, Bangladesh

It is densly industrial area, many textile mills are here from the very begining of inhabitant Baburhat is a very popular place for good quality fabrics. Maslin fabrics are also produced here Mehedi,dhaka ,bangladesh

Shahid asad was borned in this district. There are many hilltracks in this district, such as Sonaimuri.

The Wari-Bateshwar ruins are located in this district.
