The National Museum (Serbian: Народни музеј) in Belgrade, Serbia was founded in 1844. It is on Republic Square. Since it was founded, its collections have grown drastically. Today, the museum has a collection of over 400,000 objects including many foreign masterpieces. Currently, the museum is closed for renovation. It will get a new exterior and interior. One of the features of the exterior will be the introduction of a glass dome as the roof of the museum, which will allow a controlled amount of sunlight to enter the museum.

National Museum of Serbia owns a mummy of Egyptian priest from Ptolemaic period named "Nesmin".

The International Art Collection has more than 1100 Paintings and scluptures.First ten paintings have estimated worth at least 400 million Euros,and all Art Internationl Colletion worth more than 2 billion Euros. The Collection of Drawings and Prints of International Authors has 2446 items and the Yugoslav Art Collection has more than 6000 items including 1700 works of Serbian authors from 18th to 19th century. There is not included Serbian Medevial Art Collection.

Numismatic Collection has more than 300000 items (coins,medals,rings,seals...). Collection is divided into ten smaller assemblies from 6-5th century B.C. The very interesing is collection of coins issued by Philip II of Macedonian (359 – 336 B.C.) and Alexander the Great (336 – 323 B.C.). Two rare and valuable objects from Serbina history are in the Collection. are.Lead bullas of Stefan Nemanja and Stefan Stracimir, which testify to the highly developed diplomacy in the mediaeval Serbian State led by the Nemanjic dynasty.

- The French Art Collection consisting of more than 250 paintings, from 16th to early 20th century. Collection include Gauguin (2 paintings, 2 prints and 1 water-color), created between 1889 and 1899, Renoir (22 paintings and 50 graphic works), André Derain, Henri de Toulouse Lautrec, Matisse, Monet, Vollard, Sébastien Bourdon, Degas (15 works), Charles-François Daubigny, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, Auguste Rodin, Georges Rouault, Pierre Bonnard, Pissarro, Callot, Odilon Redon, Honoré Daumier, Paul Signac, Gustave Moreau, Eugène Carrière, Maurice de Vlaminck, Édouard Vuillard, Hubert Robert, Maurice Utrillo, Raoul Dufy, Suzanne Valadon, Eugène Fromentin, Émile Bernard, Forain etc.
