Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah

Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah(Arabic: نواف الأحمد الجابر الصباح Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jābir as-Sabāh; born 1937) is the half-brother of the current emir of Kuwait, Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. He was nominated to the position of Crown Prince on February 7, 2006 against the tradition of the Al-Sabah family in which the Emir and the Crown Prince alternates between the Al-Salem and Al-Jaber branches.

Sheikh Nawaf's history in Kuwaiti politics include his role as the Governor of Hawalli from February 12, 1962 to 1978. He was appointed the Minister of Interior from March 19, 1978 until he was assigned to the post of Minister of Defense on January 26, 1988 and again on June 20, 1992. On July 13, 2003 he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. He was then assigned to First Deputy Prime Minister on October 16, 2003 until 2006.
