Neil Danns (born November 23, 1982, in Liverpool) is an English professional footballer, currently playing for Championship side Birmingham City.
After starting off his football career as a trainee at Blackburn Rovers, Danns moved south to Colchester United. It was with the U's that Neil really started to make a name for himself. The Scouser quickly established himself as a firm fans' favourite. Whilst at Layer Road, Danns contributed greatly to the club's promotion to the Championship in 2006. His contribution had been recognised by many higher-profile clubs, and was subsequently linked with a number of teams in the summer.
On June 19, 2006, Danns completed a £500,000 move to Birmingham City. Despite admitting that he "had a great time" at Colchester, he emphasised that "when a club the size of Birmingham come in for you, it's hard to say no".[1] Ironically, Danns made his competitive début for Birmingham against Colchester on 5 August, 2006.
