Netcraft is an Internet monitoring company based in Bath, England.

Netcraft provides webserver and -hosting market-share analysis including web server and operating system detection and their service is in some cases, depending on the queried server's operating system, able to monitor uptimes[1]. Uptime performance monitoring is a commonly used factor in determining the reliability of a web hosting provider.[2].

Netcraft also provides security testing and publishes news releases about the state of various networks that make up the Internet. These news releases and statistics are widely referred to and considered relevant by the technogy and Internet press[3], and the company is listed as a news outlet on Google News and Yahoo News[4][5]. In the late month of October 2006, Netcraft identified 100 million Web sites with domain names and content on them, with 47 to 48 percent of that representing active sites.

The company is famous for it free anti-phishing toolbar for Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers. The study comissioned by Microsoft concluded that Netcraft toolbar was among the most effective tools to combat "phishing" on Internet. [6]
