New is a successful Tamil language film released in 2004, in which S .J. Suryaah played the lead role apart from directing and producing the film the other co stars include Simran, Devayani and Manivannan. New is a film about a teenage boy who is aged to adulthood by a Scientist.New is a remake of the Hollywood film "Big".

After feeling that he is being repeatedly humiliated and unwanted by his Mother and brother. Vichu(Bharath) an eight year old goes to a Scientist (Manivannan)who turns him into a 28 year old man and he goes to work in a Toy Company and is pursued by Priya (Simran) daughter of company's chief at the toy company and gets married to her and has a child. His mother meanwhile played by Devayani starts looking for him and lodges a complaint in police station that her son is missing. Meanwhile Vichu(Bharath) learns of his mother's love for him and turns back to the Scientist Manivannan asking him to be turn him back into a child. But the Scientist's reverse process does not work and he ends being an eight year old with his mother during Day and as an adult as Priya's husband in night."New" is all about the how Vichu manages his dual life.

The main charactersbad boy drinking a portion given by a Scientist, although he retains his boyish charm and inexperience, and gains amazing physical abilities. As an adult, he gets a job at a toy company.

The film's opening is considered to be one of the biggest in Tamil cinema in recent years, with over Rs.1.1 crore being collected on the first day at the box-office..The film's music by noted composer A.R.Rahman had created waves in the audio market. However, the movie was banned by the Madras High Court in August 2005, a year after it collected huge revenues in the box office on the grounds of it had been filmed for the purpose of "arousing sensual feelings" of its viewers, especially the young .
