New Quay

This article is about the Welsh town, for the Cornish town see Newquay.
New Quay (Welsh: Cei Newydd) is originally a fishing village but is now a seaside town in Ceredigion, Wales, lying on Cardigan Bay. It is known for its bottlenose dolphins and was briefly home to Dylan Thomas, who used it as the model for Llareggub in his radio play Under Milk Wood. This is often under dispute by those who argue it is Thomas' long term residence of Laugharne in Carmarthenshire, but the estuary location of the latter make it unlikely to provide the 'sea boat bobbing sea' in the play. Now a popular holiday resort, tourism dominates the town though fishing still provides employment for a number of boats and at the fish processing plant on the south coast of the village.
Other attractions in the town include its harbour, beach, heritage centre and Marine Wildlife Centre. Just outside the town is New Quay Honey Farm, the largest honey farm in Wales which makes and sells its own honey, mead, beeswax and also includes a live bee exhibition centre and a tea room.
