Newport Beach Film Festival

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Newport Beach Film Festival is a film festival in the United States held in Newport Beach, California and showcases over 350 films to more than 30,000 attendees annually.

Established in 1999, the festival features independent films from around the world and the U.S. Since its beginnings, the Festival has presented many acclaimed films including Crash, Layer Cake, Dust to Glory, Sexy Beast, Spellbound, Dogtown and Z Boys, Joint Security Area, and Castle in the Sky, as well as anniversary screenings of classics such as The French Connection, Sunset Boulevard, 50th anniversary of Jim Henson Company and The Outsiders.

The festival also pioneered a Community Outreach Program through which they partner with over 30 non-profit organizations in Orange County (California) from various sectors including the arts, health and human services, the environment, education, children’s causes and alumni clubs. The Newport Beach Film Festival Community Outreach Program provides a forum for each organization to further its mission through the medium of film and co-host a film screening during the Festival. Each organization is paired with a film that is likely to attract an audience interested in its cause. With an opportunity to speak to film audiences prior to the screenings and display information at the theater, the groups receive wonderful exposure and a chance to connect with filmgoers, filmmakers, other non-profit groups and thousands of attendee.
