Nigeria (NGR) has sent athletes to every Summer Olympic Games held since 1952 with the exception of 1976.

Although the country took twelve years to win its first Olympic medal — a bronze medal taken by Nojim Maiyegun in men's middleweight boxing — it has become more successful in recent years, winning multiple medals in the last four Olympics. Nigeria's best Olympic year was in 1996, when it won six medals; among these were its only gold medals to date, including its victory in football. Most of Nigeria's medals have come in boxing or athletics events.

No athletes from Nigeria have competed in any Winter Olympic Games.
