• CBGB, New York, 1973-2006, regarded as the birthplace and center of American punk rock.
• The Click, Greensboro, North Carolina. Live music.
• Club Foot, Austin, Texas, 1980s. Large live-music venue featuring punk rock, blues, reggae and many other kinds of music.
• Club Universe, San Francisco, trend setting gay nightclub which existed from 1994 to 2002.
• Club Space, Miami, one of the first clubs in the United States to have an unrestricted liquor license, enabling them to serve liquor far beyond standard closing times.
• Danceteria, New York, 1980s. Frequented by Madonna. Had appearances by avant-garde performance artists such as John Sex.

• Lakeview Broadcasting Company, Chicago, 2005-present, upstart by Stephen Westman and Paul Blair (D.J. Whiteshadow).

• Love (formerly known as "Dream"), Washington, D.C.; known for its enormous warehouse size and frequent hosting of Howard University's homecoming events.

• Ageha, Tokyo, Japan is a large club with several dance floors, a terrace with a small pool, an outdoor dance tent, on the water front in Shin Kiba, eastern Tokyo.
