Nishikasugai District, Aichi

Nishikasugai (西春日井郡; -gun) is a district located in Aichi, Japan. Currently, there are only two towns-Haruhi and Toyoyama.

During the old days, the district was extended to Nagoya Castle, but since Taisho Era to the 1950s, most of the areas were merged into the city of Nagoya.
Recently, the district were considering to turn the entire district into a city but the merger was killed due to their indifferences. After the merger was killed, the towns of Kiyosu, Shinkawa und Nishibiwajima merged to form the City of Kiyosu on July 7, 2005. And on March, 20, 2006, the towns of Nishiharu and Shikatsu merged to form the city of Kitanagoya. As a result of this merger, the district have only the towns of Haruhi and Toyoyama.
