The Nissan Rogue is a new compact crossover SUV to be released in September 2007 for the 2008 model year by the Japanese automaker Nissan. The Rogue will be sold in North America and will replace the Nissan X-Trail in Canada as Nissan's smaller crossover SUV, as the Murano continues to grow in size and price. The Nissan Rogue made its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January 7, 2007. An all-new version of the X-trail has been launched in Europe and elsewhere but there are no plans to market it in N America.
The counterpart of the Rogue, called the Qashqai, was introduced in Europe in early 2007 and as the Dualis in Japan and the CCUV in China.
Previously, Rambler used the Rogue nameplate in mid-1966 on a "performance" edition of the American. Power comes from a 170-hp, 2.5 four-cylinder engine mated to a standard continuously variable transmission(CVT).
