The North Dakota Army National Guard is headquartered in Bismarck, North Dakota, and consists of the 68th Troop Command and the Engineer Brigade. Their main installation and armory is at Camp Grafton.

The mission of the 164th Engr Bn is to: Provide command and control of corps mechanized engineer units and increase the combat effectiveness by accomplishing mobility, counter-mobility, survivability, and sustainment tasks. Perform combat missions in the role of infantry when required. Reinforce heavy brigade and armored Cavalry regiment engineer units when required.
