North East Collegiate Lacrosse League

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The North East Collegiate Lacrosse League (NECLL) was created in January, 2006 to meet the needs of college men's lacrosse clubs throughout New England, New York, and New Jersey, which are unable or unwilling to join the long-established Pioneer Collegiate Lacrosse League (PCLL). The league was created primarily by Gregg Pathiakis, past executive of the PCLL and Ryan F. Coughlin, president and captain of the team from Tufts University. Also intstrumental in the founding of the league were Mike Giuggio and Nathan Ladd, members of the Tufts' team's student leadership. Some of the teams in the league are officially recognized by their school, others are just made up of students from the same school but not an official school club team. However, all teams are self-governed and self-financed, primarily through player dues and fundraising. The league is not affiliated with any national college lacrosse league but will often play teams from the National College Lacrosse League and Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association
