Ole Hanson

Ole Hanson (1874-1940), real estate developer and politician, co-founded Lake Forest Park, Washington in 1912 as a rural planned community for professionals in the Seattle area. He later became the 33rd mayor of Seattle, serving in that office from 1918 to 1919. While in office, he became famous for breaking the Seattle General Strike of 1919. This fame triggered an ultimately unsuccessful candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination in 1920. Afterwards, he left Washington State for California, where he founded the city of San Clemente in 1925.
