Once Upon A Dream
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Once Upon A Dream Parade is a new parade premiering at Disneyland Resort Paris in celebration for the park's fifteenth anniversary. It will replace the Wonderful World of Disney Parade that has been running for many years now at the park. The parade will be about 25 minutes in duration, with eight large and brand new floats. It features a new song "Just Like We Dreamed It" written by Sunny Hilden, plus the orchestration music created by Steve Sidwell. The parade was viewed specially by the press and also present visitors at the park and it will open to the public on March 31st. Since the World of Walt Disney Parade also served as the Princess Parade and Villains Parade, it is unknown if the same will happen to this new spectacular parade.

There are eight floats in total, less then that in the Wonderful World of Disney Parade. However, each float is split into two, each half of a float covering a different well-known film, although some are an assortment of various characters that fit into a category (e.g. Disney Princesses, villains, etc.) It is unknown if any new floats will be added over time.
A traditional start of most parades at Disneyland Paris, is an assortment of Disney characters greeting guests and leading the floats, often dancing or conversing with the audience. Characters in the opening include Lilo & Stitch, Prince John, the Sherrif of Nottingham, Friar Tuck, the Seven Dwarves and even the Country Bears. All of the characters have previously appeared in other parades, although this is Lilo and Stitch's first appearance in any parade set in Disneyland Park, as they have always appeared in parades at Walt Disney Studios Park.
The first float appears to be based on a giant storybook lying on the bottom of the float. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse stand in a giant hot air balloon shaped like the sun. They have anchored down on a giant purple crescent moon which sits on the back of the float. Donald Duck, in clothes similar to those he wears in Kingdom Hearts showers the moon with a downpour of glitter, while Goofy rests on the back of a pile of books, blowing bubbles. Pluto, Chip and Dale lead the float.
This float is a combination of Alice in Wonderland and Pinocchio. A line of walking playing cards lead the float, followed by the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts. A larger-than life Alice is trapped in the White Rabbit's cottage, arms and legs sticking out, her face visible in the house. Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee stand on her shoes, the March Hare precariously balances on a giant teacup Alice holds in her hand, while the Chesire Cat, the Catepillar, talking flowers and other characters decorate the float. On the other side, Pinocchio and a group of marionettes dance before what resembles a giant clock. Jiminy Cricket perches on top of a tower where marionettes jump up and down (really bungee artists, similar to those in Walt Disney's Parade of Dreams. Stilt walkers follow with marionettes from Stromboli's puppet show.
Another giant storybook makes up this view, a section of pages stand upright, separating the two different themes, Toy Story/Toy Story 2 and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Plastic army soldiers lead the parade, the back wall of the Toy Story section making the float look like Andy's Room. Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Rex, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, Hamm (playing a card game), Slinky Dog, Toy Soldiers, RC Car, Etch-E-Sketch, Mr. Spell and the Little Green Men trapped in their spaceship make up the section. The other side features Winnie the Pooh standing outside his house preparing for a special party, plenty of honeypots not to far away. Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore follow.
This float is made up of Peter Pan and Mary Poppins. A group of scurvy pirates, led by Smee, wield the flag of the Jolly Roger as Captain Hook's galley sails into view, the crocodile swimming below it. Wendy and Peter Pan wave from Wendy's bedroom window. A miniature version of Big Ben stands in the middle of the float. The second half features Mary Poppins and chimney sweeper Bert having a jolly holiday in their magical world featuring the carousel. Dancing penguins follow the float.
No parade at Disneyland would be complete without at least one Disney Villain trying to steal the spotlight, but in this case, all of the major villains all share one haunting float of their own. The float is led by strange dancers who appear to be on fire. The desolate peak of Bald Mountain comes into view, the giant demon Chernabog perching on top. Jafar in his cobra form slithers along at the front, his snake eyes searching for presumably the lamp. On the right-hand side, Maleficent in a new flaming costume and the Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves send daunting looks at guests, the queen has her cauldron with her. On the opposite side, Lord of the Underworld, Hades fumes at the guests and Scar lurks in the shadows with crazed eyes. Perching on the back of the float is the sea witch Ursula.
A giant, old tree makes up this float, which is a made up of characters from The Lion King and The Jungle Book. Simba sits on Pride Rock at the front of the tree, giraffes and ostriches leading. Timon and Pumbaa are with him while Rafiki stands on the rock just before the tree. Various animals from both films are visible in the tree's branches, including the snake Kaa. The back portion is King Louie's temple, where he himself and Baloo the Bear dance. A nice little feature is bongo drummers beating large bongo drums to the rhythm of the orchestration.
As the parade draws to a close, the well-known Disney Princesses arrive for the finale, but since there are so many, two floats had to be provided. The Little Mermaid and Aladdin make up this float, Ariel and Eric sit on the front of the float together, while Aladdin and Princess Jasmine dance together on the rear, under a large magical tree.
The final float features the true Disney Princesses: Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty Princess Aurora and Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Belle and Beast dance in a rose-covered gazebo at the front with Snow White and her prince on a bridge behind them. Cinderella, Prince Charming, Aurora and Prince Phillip bring up the rear, where a magnificent white castle stands on a hilltop, ending the parade in a way only Disney can.
