Osterley
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Osterley is a place in the London Borough of Hounslow in West London. It is a suburban development situated 10 miles (16.1 km) west south-west of Charing Cross.
Osterley, famous for the eponymous House and park (now owned by the National Trust), is a residential area known for its large amounts of green space. The town is also home to the new studios of Sky News. Osterley is defined by its bordering roads, The southern road being the A4 (The Great West Road), northern being Jersey Road..(once upon a time called Scrattage Lane), the eastern road is Syon Lane, and the western being Thornbury Road. These borders technically place Osterley Tube Station outside Osterley proper, but there is a continuous residential area from Osterley to Heston so it becomes hard to decide where Osterley really ends and Heston begins.
Besides Osterley House and Park, Osterley is also famous for containing one of the London residences of The Sultan of Brunei-The Aviary Farm in Windmill Lane
The electoral ward of Osterley and Spring Grove now has its own dedicated Police team part of the Metropolitan Police Safer Neighbourhoods programme.

The English town of Osterley is not to be confused with the Tasmanian town of the same name, situated at the mouth of the Victoria Valley in the southern foothills of the Central Plauteau of Tasmania, north of Hamilton. Once a thriving community, the population today stands at less than a dozen. Practically the only items of interest in the town are the fine War memorial hall and St. James the Less Church of England.
