Otter Creek (Vermont)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Otter Creek is one of the major streams located in the state of Vermont. It runs northward from the southwest of the state and eventually empties into Lake Champlain at Ferrisburgh. It is the primary stream running through Rutland County and Addison County.
Otter Creek Falls is 7 miles upstream from the mouth of Otter Creek at Lake Champlain, in the town of Vergennes. This stretch is passable by boat, and is frequented by motor boats, cannoes, and kayaks. Many nesting platforms were created allong the creek, so one is likely to see both Osprey and Bald Eagles in the area.
Because it is called a creek, the unusual situation of a river emptying into a creek occurs several times along its length.
