Pallavaram is a suburban town within the city of Chennai and a municipality in Kancheepuram district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is located near Tambaram, a hub for suburban trains as well as trains bound south. Pallavaram was originally called 'Pallavapuram'.
Its surrounding areas include Pammal, Anakaputhur, Pozhichalur, Nagalkeni etc. Pallavaram is also a roadways hub, as all buses coming to Chennai from the south have to pass through this place. It is dangerously crowded during peak hours.
Pallavaram in recent times has grown significantly and has become one of the favorite residential areas. With a 200-foot road being constructed, it becomes a strategic location with easy access to Old Mahabalipuram Road (New Chennai) and Grand South Trunk (GST) Road. The famous schools and colleges nearby add flavor to it.
With Pallavaram's near access to an airport, an IT corridor and a business city, it is becoming a vibrant city. The real estate in Pallavaram has raised twofold in last three years, making it a right place for sound investment, attracting NRI and software professionals.
