Patrick Johnson (sprinter)

Patrick Johnson (born 26 September 1972, Cairns, Queensland) is an Australian athlete, who was born on a speed boat enroute to Cairns Base Hospital, the son of an Indigenous Australian mother and an Irish father, who trains at the Australian Institute of Sport. He ran a speed of 9.93's over 100m in 2003 at the Telstra A Series in Perth finishing first, to become Australia's fastest person. [1] This also made him the first man not of West African descent ever to break 10 seconds over 100 metres.
Johnson is fluent in Cantonese, Indonesian and Japanese, and for a while worked as an officer at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
In additions to athletics, his sporting interests are reported to include touch football, rugby league, rugby union and basketball.
